Slide between the two tiers. Credits, frame size and a zoomed detail update together, so you can see what the cheaper tier gives up — then compare the same settings on Kling 3.0 and Hailuo 02.

Cheapest per second at these settings: Hailuo 02 (4 credits/s). Wan costs 9 credits/s here, so reach for it when you want its look or a second opinion on a prompt, not to save credits.

Per second is the fair yardstick: Hailuo 02 renders 6- or 10-second clips and has no 720p tier, so each row uses the closest setting that model can actually run.

Wan 2.5 vs Kling 3.0 and Hailuo 02

Four models in a similar price band, all on one balance here. At 720p Wan costs 9 credits per second — less than Kling 3.0’s 10, more than Kling 2.5 Turbo’s 6 — so its value is native square output and a different look, not the lowest price.

04Image to video

Wan 2.5 image to video

Switch the generator to Image and the model animates your photo at 720p or 1080p — same tiers and same credits as text to video.

How Wan image to video works

Upload a photo you have the rights to and describe what moves. The model starts from your photo and follows its shape, so a vertical photo gives a vertical clip and a square one a square clip.

Test the motion at 720p

Image to video costs 9 or 14 credits per second, the same as text to video. Try the motion on a 5-second 720p draft for 45 credits, then re-render the keeper at 1080p.

Describe motion, not the picture

The photo already shows the subject and setting. Use the prompt for what moves, how the camera moves and the mood — and the negative prompt for anything that keeps creeping in.

Crop first

Wan keeps the framing of what you upload. Crop to 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 before uploading, so the platform shape is set and nothing important sits at the edge.

06Good fit · poor fit

Where the Wan AI video generator fits

Good fit

Look development at 720p

Try ten looks for a shot at 720p for 450 credits in total, then re-render the winner at 1080p or on another model.

Good fit

Square feed posts

Native 1:1 output for feed posts and product loops, so nothing important gets cropped out of the frame.

Good fit

A second opinion

When a prompt keeps failing on one model, a model from a different lab may read the same words another way. One balance, one click to switch.

Poor fit

Dialogue and sound

No audio on our Wan route. Veo 3.1 or Kling 3.0 render speech and effects with the picture.

Poor fit

Takes over 10 seconds

Wan stops at 10 seconds. Kling 3.0 renders up to 15 seconds in one take.

Poor fit

The cheapest possible draft

Kling 2.5 Turbo costs 6 credits per second at 720p, and Hailuo 02 costs 4 at 768p, against 9 for Wan. Pick it for its look or square output, not to save credits.

07Prompt tips

Prompting Wan well

Expect your prompt to grow

The provider expands short prompts with a language model before rendering. A one-line idea gains lighting, lens and mood. If the result drifts, spell out what matters so the rewrite has less to invent.

Use the negative prompt

Wan reads a negative prompt of up to 500 characters. List what keeps creeping in — extra fingers, text, logos, camera shake — rather than writing “no …” in the main prompt.

Explore at 720p

A 5-second 720p clip costs 45 credits (≈ $0.61). Change one thing per try, then spend 70 credits on the 1080p version of the take you like.

Frame for the platform

Pick 9:16 or 1:1 before you render instead of cropping later. For image to video, crop the photo first — Wan follows the shape of the picture you upload.

08Cost per second

What Wan 2.5 costs here

Charged per generated second at the resolution you pick. Failed renders are refunded automatically, and the generator shows the exact total before you click Generate.

Example: five 5-second 720p drafts on Wan 2.5 (225 credits) plus one 1080p final (70 credits) is 295 credits, ≈ $4.01 on the Pro plan.

FAQ

Wan 2.5 FAQ

Still curious? Email support@picturetovideo.org — a human replies within a day.

01What is Wan 2.5?
It is a video generation model from Alibaba’s Wan team, released as a preview in Sep 2025. It turns a text prompt or a photo into a 5- or 10-second clip at 720p or 1080p, in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. On PictureToVideo it sits beside Kling, Veo and Hailuo on one credit balance.
02Is Wan 2.5 open source?
Not the version we run. Earlier Wan models, 2.1 and 2.2, were released with open weights you can download and run yourself. The current release is offered by API providers as a hosted preview, and that hosted endpoint is what this site calls. If you need local inference, look at the open Wan releases instead.
03Is there a Wan 3.0, and can I use it here?
This site runs Wan 2.5 only. People search for Wan 3.0, but we add a model once we can call it through our API provider and have priced it — not before. Until then, nothing here is labelled Wan 3.0, and any newer Wan will appear on this page with its own credits per second.
04How does Wan 2.5 image to video work?
Pick Image in the generator, upload a photo and describe the motion. The model animates it into a 5- or 10-second clip at 720p or 1080p, keeping the shape of your photo. Wan image to video costs the same per second as text to video — a 5-second 720p draft is 45 credits.
05Which Wan 2.5 resolution should I choose?
Use 720p (9 credits per second) for exploring ideas and phone-first social posts, and 1080p (14) for delivery or anything you will crop. The slider above shows a zoomed detail at each tier, plus how much picture each credit buys, so you can judge the trade-off on a real frame.
06Does Wan 2.5 generate audio?
Not here. The Wan API can take an optional background-music file, but our generator doesn’t pass one yet, so clips come out silent. Add music or effects in your editor, or pick Veo 3.1 or Kling 3.0 when you need dialogue and sound rendered with the picture.
07Why does Wan sometimes add details I didn’t ask for?
Prompt expansion is on by default at our provider: a language model rewrites short prompts with extra lighting, lens and mood before Wan renders them. That helps one-line ideas but can invent props. Write the important details yourself and use the negative prompt to block anything that keeps appearing.
08Is this Alibaba’s official Wan website?
No. PictureToVideo is an independent studio that calls the model through an API provider. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Alibaba, and you don’t need an Alibaba Cloud account. You pay in PictureToVideo credits, and failed renders are refunded automatically.
