Our generator runs Kling 3.0 via API today and switches the day the 4.0 API opens.

The official kling.ai homepage already headlines “All-New Kling 4.0”, which is why many people assume it is out. The homepage announces the model; it doesn’t mean every account, or any API customer, can use it today.

Timeline

Kling has shipped quickly, and new versions have reached Kling’s own app before they reached developers. Kling 3.0 followed exactly that pattern: early access for members first, broad access after.

  • June 6, 2024: Kling launches.
  • September 2025: Kling 2.5 Turbo, the fast, low-cost model.
  • December 1, 2025: Kling O1, the first unified “Omni” model for reference-driven video and edits.
  • December 3, 2025: Kling 2.6 adds native audio, generated together with the picture.
  • February 5, 2026: Kling 3.0, with clips up to 15 seconds, multi-shot storyboards and multilingual audio.
  • April 23, 2026: native 4K output arrives for Kling 3.0.
  • September 27–28, 2026: Kling 4.0 is announced, and Kling 4.0 Flash opens as a limited beta for a small group.
  • October 2026: official Kling 4.0 release, per Kling’s developer page (no exact day yet).

Confirmed Kling 4.0 features

Everything below comes from Kling’s own release note and comparison post. Two items are officially labelled “coming soon”, and we mark them the same way.

  • Longer shots: 3 to 30 seconds per generation, double the 15-second ceiling of Kling 3.0.
  • Up to 10 keyframes: place images along the timeline and Kling animates between them. Kling 3.0 supports a start and an end frame only.
  • 15 reference inputs: up to 10 images, 5 videos (30 seconds combined) and 7 subjects, for consistent characters and products.
  • 21:9 framing, alongside 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and Auto.
  • Stereo audio instead of mono, with tighter lip sync and more dialogue languages, dialects and accents.
  • Prompts up to 8,000 tokens, so a full scene description or script fits in one request.
  • Readable on-screen text in many languages, which stays stable while the camera moves.
  • Video editing: feed in up to 5 clips and change expressions, motion, camera, style or background, or replace and remove elements.
  • Creative Recreation: borrow the rhythm and composition of a reference video and swap in your own product or character.
  • 10-bit HDR at 1080p and 4K: coming soon.
  • Repeated extension up to 2 minutes: coming soon.

Kling 4.0 Flash

Kling 4.0 Flash is the fast tier of the new generation, and the only part of Kling 4.0 that anyone outside Kuaishou can use right now. Since September 28, 2026 it has been in a limited beta inside Kling’s own app and website. Reports describe the group as annual top-tier (Ultra) members.

Flash trades resolution and length for speed, so it suits drafts and quick iterations. We will publish our own timing data once we can run it through the API, rather than repeat speed claims we haven’t measured. More detail lives in the Flash section of our Kling 4.0 page.

Kling 4.0 API and price

There is no official Kling 4.0 API yet. Kling’s developer page puts the official release in October, and Kling’s own API price list still has no Kling 4.0 rows (checked October 15). Large API platforms describe 4.0 as coming soon, with endpoint names and prices to be posted at launch. At least one third-party reseller has put up a “Kling 4.0 API” page; we haven’t verified that it can actually be called, so treat it — and any other “Kling 4.0 API” page with a “try free” button — as unconfirmed until a working call proves otherwise. Our rule doesn’t change: we only say “made with Kling 4.0” once we can call it ourselves.

Pricing hasn’t been announced either. For reference, Kling 3.0 costs $0.084 per second at 720p without audio on the official API. Our generator lists provisional Kling 4.0 launch prices, from 18 credits per second, so you can plan ahead; we will correct them the day real API rates appear.

What happens here on launch day

PictureToVideo is an independent, unofficial site, not affiliated with Kuaishou. We don’t get Kling 4.0 early; we get it when its API is public, like everyone else. Until then our generator runs Kling 3.0, alongside Veo 3.1, Wan 2.5, Hailuo 02 and Grok Imagine, all via API. When the 4.0 API opens:

  1. We test the new endpoints, then switch Kling 4.0 on in our Kling 4.0 AI video generator.
  2. This tracker moves to “API live”, with the date, the source and the real price.
  3. Everyone on the waitlist gets a single email.
  4. Results keep their quality-tier label, and our models page lists the model behind every tier, so a Kling 3.0 clip is never passed off as 4.0.

FAQ

01When is the Kling 4.0 release date?
Kling’s developer page only says “official release in October” 2026. The model was announced on September 27–28, 2026, and Kling 4.0 Flash entered a limited beta on September 28, but no exact day has been published for the full release. We update this tracker, with a source and a timestamp, as soon as an official date or launch happens.
02Is Kling 4.0 out yet?
Partly. As of October 15, 2026, only Kling 4.0 Flash is available, in a limited beta for a small group of paying members inside Kling’s own app and website. The full Kling 4.0 model is not generally available and there is no official API yet; third-party “Kling 4.0 API” pages are unverified. Be sceptical of any site that says it generates full Kling 4.0 videos today.
03What is Kling 4.0 Flash, and who can use it?
Flash is the fast, lighter tier of Kling 4.0. It makes 3–20 second clips at 720p in 8-bit SDR and accepts text or a first-frame image. A limited beta opened on September 28, 2026 for a small group of Kling members; reports describe them as annual top-tier subscribers.
04When will the Kling 4.0 API open?
No exact date has been announced; Kling’s developer page says official release in October. Some third-party resellers list a “Kling 4.0 API” page, but none is official or verified. With Kling 3.0, broad access followed the member preview, so expect the official API around or after the full release in Kling’s own app rather than before it.
05How much will Kling 4.0 cost?
Official prices aren’t public yet, for membership credits or for the API. Our generator shows provisional launch estimates, from 18 credits per second at 720p, so you can plan a budget. We will replace them with the real numbers on the day the official API price list is published.
06What’s new in Kling 4.0 compared with Kling 3.0?
The headline changes are 30-second shots, up to 10 keyframes, 15 reference inputs, 21:9 framing, stereo audio and prompts of up to 8,000 tokens. Kling 4.0 also adds video editing and Creative Recreation. 10-bit HDR and 2-minute extensions are announced too, but both are marked coming soon.
07How will I know when Kling 4.0 is live?
Join the waitlist above and we’ll send a single email the day the API opens and our generator switches over: no newsletter, no spam. You can also bookmark this tracker. The status bar at the top changes to “API live”, with the date and source, as soon as it happens.
